optical-fibre

Fibre Optic cabling is becoming more popular and relevant in today’s market than ever before. Vital information is used for today’s technologies such as VOIP, IP, CCTV, PC networks which demand greater efficiency and bandwidth from their cable networks.

Data - Lec Engineers are fully trained in the installation of: Multi-mode fibre optics such as OM1, 62.5/125 legacy cabling, but still present in buildings, OM2, 50/125, OM3 and OM4. Single-mode fibre optics such as OS1 or OS2 which use 8/125 micron fibre. Fujikura fusion splicers are used to splice factory polished pigtails with either ST, SC, LC, FC or E2000 presentation.

Once installed we use industry recognised Fluke Networks test equipment that have dual wavelength bi-directional light source and power meters which measure at 850/1300nm for multi-mode and 1310/1550nm for single-mode. The results can be downloaded and presented electronically in easily readable PDF format.

Tests can be carried out on existing fibre installations using our Fluke OTDR (optical time domain reflectometer) to identify or highlight problems with faulty or severed fibres. Our OTDR's can scan both multi-mode and single-mode fibres and the results can be downloaded and presented electronically in easily readable PDF format.
